“My blood is no longer yours to ensure you are fed” is my absolute favorite.

Thank you so much!!! Emotional vampirism is a bitch😭

I don't usually read poetry, but I liked the elegantly brute strength of the words here.

Coral Evermore's avatar

Thank you so much!! Elegantly brute strength is such a great compliment and I love how you worded it!! :)

I love this wow ❤️‍🔥 It flows in such a satisfying way and the word choice is just *chef's kiss* I've felt this exact way before about malicious people 😭

Coral Evermore's avatar

Oh my gosh, thank you so much!! I’m glad the word choice flowed well for you!! And yes, if you’ve ever dealt with a malicious narcissist, then I’m sure you can unfortunately relate!!😭

I have indeed dealt with one of those before, it's not something I'm glad to relate to but I do 🥺❤️‍🔥 Thank you for expressing the experience so well, your poem felt like a hug 🫂

Coral Evermore's avatar

I’m sorry that you have…it’s never a pleasant experience :’(

But I am very glad to hear that my poem felt like a hug!!🖤

Beautiful. Both modern and because of the form, classic. A fusion of modern lyricism and Charlotte Brontë’s poems. Nailed it. Emotionally expressive and powerful. Thanks so much for sharing. Very much enjoyed reading.

Thank you so much!! And wow, hearing that’s modern lyricism and Charlotte Brontë poetry is a big compliment, thank you!!😭

This was a very impulsive poem after processing an old connection and reflecting on how toxic it really was. Narcissism is a bitch lmao

And thank you so much for your kinds words and for reading!!😭🖤

My goodness what a beautiful dark poem. The idea of the poisonous lies being lovely threads that have no strength is such..wow

.not to mention the eyes glinting green with envy for what others have due to self destruction by self hatred.

I understand alot of this peom for my life was full of narcissistic people only telling me. Kind things so I'd stay before harming me any other way they could.

Coral Evermore's avatar

Thank you so much!!

I’m so glad to hear you picked up on what I was putting down so to speak. Green eyed jealousy is an ugly trait to have when nothing is done to correct it.

And yes, anyone who has ever dealt with narcissists will know exactly how this poem feels. People like this will often give love only to withhold it later…

But once you escape it, you tend to realize how brittle those mechanisms truly are. It only gets to you if you let it.

Yes exactly!!
