Introducing The Marginalia
Notes on where this publication is going and how I'm shaping it going forward
Hello everyone🖤
I hope you’ve all been well.
I’ve been thinking about my publication and how I can best move forward in a way that accommodates my busy undergraduate student schedule while offering my subscribers valuable content. You may also know that I’ve slightly rebranded my publication to be a “space for essays, literary criticism, and gothic tales which engage with classic literature and writing craft through darkness, sensitivity, and close reading.”
This made me reconsider my current paid subscriber model to better suit my needs. So, If you would like to support my academic and creative work, you will have exclusive access to the The Marginalia—a living notebook featuring:
🌹Paid Subscriber Benefits
📖 Close readings of literary passages, films, and gothic texts, with analysis and reflection
🖊️ Craft notes + writing process insights, including research notes, early drafts, and WIP excerpts
📚 Curated media lists of books, films, and music for deeper exploration and inspiration
This will allow me to explore and analyze whatever is most relevant to me at the time. Think of this as an intimate look into the notebook of a creative writer and literature student. If you have any ideas for passages, films, and gothic texts for me to do close readings of, please let me know.
So with that in mind, you can reasonably expect me to post at least twice a month on these days:
🖤 Sundays, 9:00 AM PST — Essays · Criticism · Gothic Tales (Free)
🕯️Wednesdays, 12:00 PM PST — The Marginalia (Paid)
What to look forward to?
Sunday, February 8th — Progress Towards Restoration: An Analysis of Wilderness Dualism in Princess Mononoke
My first Marginalia post likely doing a close reading on a passage from Dracula with some notes on my current vampire western writing project
Essays including: Why Every Writer Should Write Short Stories, The Gothic as a Language for Trauma, Lilith, Women on Top, and the Female Orgasm, What Edgar Allan Poe Can Teach Us About Writing
Continued posting of short stories, drabbles, flash fiction, and poetry with aesthetic moodboards and embedded ambience for immersion
Thank you again so much for your continued support, you are the reason that I do this. I cannot wait to share my passions and fixations with you.
If you would like to support my academic and creative work, please consider becoming a paid subscriber for exclusive access to The Marginalia—a living notebook featuring close readings, craft notes, writing process insights, early drafts, WIP excerpts, and curated media lists for deeper exploration.
Or, if you prefer, you can buy me a coffee. Just think of it as tossing a coin to your word witch. Either way, your readership is more than enough🖤
