Pro tip from a history doctoral student: Most history books are written in such a way that you should be able to read the first paragraph in each chapter, the first line of each paragraph, and the closing paragraph and still be able to follow what's going on... if you need to skim in a time crunch.

the research that went behind this fascinates me, as i also really enjoy researching for my fantasy novels! well done and i will take inspiration from this to be more structured

I’m still learning how to research properly so it’s certainly been an uphill climb, but it’s also been incredibly fascinating!! I think the structure definitely helps me keep my sanity intact haha glad I could hep inspire you!!

This is going to be outstanding. I’m glad you found some lost heritage in the process. Shout out to World of Darkness I still sometimes use their stuff for inspiration. If you haven’t found them yet I highly recommend looking up Concrete Blonde. They were a Goth band from the 80s and 90s that did an album called Mexican Moon I think you’d love. Happy writing.

I certainly hope it will be!! It’s been so fascinating to learn about my family history in tandem with writing this story.

And yes, shout out to World of Darkness!! Great source of inspiration!!

I haven’t heard of this Goth band, but I will be sure to check them out!! Thank you so much!! :)))

Even when writing fiction, an author has to sometime rely on research. In my case since I often write period pieces , I sometimes have to research that specific time period just to get a feel for that time in history and sor at some accuracy. For another story Iw as researching witchcraft and wiccan rituals so I could bring a sense of realism to the story I was writing. Your story sounds interesting

Of for sure!! I enjoy doing research for writing period pieces, but it took me a long time to finally get a process I like!!

I absolutely loooove that you’re researching witchcraft and wiccan rituals!! That is always an area of interest for me!!

And thank you so much!! Hopefully I can do it justice :)

Loving the aesthetics and vibe of this one, excited to see the finished product. And Scriv can be such a time sync. I can remember spending weeks on my first novel before writing any prose; it was painful. Now I just use the given templates and outline as I go with scenes.

Thank you so much!! I’m super excited to get this project really going!!

And yeah…Scrivener can for sure be a time sink, but I think it’s worth it in the end!! Best to overthink how it’s set up and just go with with works for you!!
